Right now I use a Canon EOS T3i, and it’s primarily set on Program. I am not comfortable with any other settings, for some reason. I’ve had a camera for years and years and years, but this is a challenge for me.

Hi Kent!
Unfortunately you may or may not be able to answer my issue, as I use a Nikon S610. I dream of an SLR again…actually a DSLR…
My issue is taking photos in existing interior light. Dealing with reflections in glass(and not being seen in the reflection) and having enough natural light to get a good photo. My subjects are usually vignettes and ‘corners’ in my home.
Thanks! And best wishes with your e-book!

Low interior light is a hot topic and I’ll be covering that for certain. Thank you!

Confession time! I’ve used digital cameras (even a DSLR) for 9 years now, and I’ve even won a few photo contests. However, I still mostly use auto settings on my cameras (shhhhhh, don’t tell anyone). I’ve tried to learn about aperture and shutter speed numerous times, but most photography books—even the basic ones—only spend a few paragraphs on the topic and then move on. The few detailed explanations I can find make my eyes glaze over. I’m a visual learner, so maybe it’s something in the presentation that doesn’t work for me. I crave a tutorial that could finally free me from my photography prison (e.g. waiting for the perfect light because I don’t know how to alter the settings on the camera to make the situation work for me).

i find photoshop to be confusing when it comes to layering it stymies my usual ability to figure things out w/o having to read instructions …

In general, I’m fairly comfortable with how well I understand my camera and the ‘rules’ of photography. I’m trying to work more on composition, and I really need to make an effort to try more portraits and street photography with people as the subject. I’m really not confident about pointing my camera at people, just landscapes and buildings. I want to work on that.

Hi Kent, I think it depends upon what camera I am using..but exposure was a problem until I figured out that Canon need to have low exposure on some cameras…When I could use auto on the smaller cameras I had no problem until I went up to the high end bodies. I think my main problem I would love to figure out is what to do on the D7 as it has no auto ADEP function. And I am never sure what Fstop to use for a landscape. thanks for being such a good host here. cheers.

Exposure was my biggest road block in the begining….now it’s my memory….I always get about five pictures in before checking my meter, I dunno why. Can you address memory issues!?!? Lol!!
