Autumn Photo Adventure ~ Part 3

Autumn Photo Adventure ~ Part 3 If you’ve read Part 1 and Part 2, you know my son loves photographing animals and we’re now at the point in our journey where we’re searching for meese (‘moose’ for the literal). Before I go any further, I must preface this post with my experience last year. Last...

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed reading all three parts of this great adventure. I’m extremely envious of the great locations you got to shoot.

Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait for the next adventure!

Wow, what an adventure! I think my jaw hit my desk because your photos are so beautiful! Thank you for sharing.

I absolutely loved this. And I love your blog in general. I just purchased my first DSLR so I have been taking in your tips with great interest! Thank you so much!!

This was amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your adventure. Beautiful and breathtaking.

Will you be offering prints of these photos? My favorite is the close-up of the moose with the eyelashes.

Mark Kenney

LOVED this!! The photos are amazing! Our family had a similar “hunt” for meese at Yellowstone a couple of years ago. We were only able to see a cow for about 10 minutes or so, never saw a bull. They are impressive creatures for sure.

You boys have way more fortitude than this girl!

I’m a midwesterner and detest weather below 50 degrees. 60 if I have to be out in it for any period of time.

You look like such a Floridian in jeans and a light jacket! Where’s your parka? Where’re the snow pants? Mukluks?

But the meese??? AAAhhhhh-moose-ing.

Can you say layers? Not Photoshop, clothing layers!

At least I remembered my rain cover for my camera gear. Someone else, wonder who that might be, didn’t remember such equipment. Do the Floridians in Maine, or the hotel hand towels over someone’s camera, look more out of place?? LOL!!! :)

OMG Kent!! Unreal. Just amazing captures! I can only imagine the exhileration of this experince. Really truly beautiful images… you really know how to put a shot together. Can’t wait for that Composition class – right after the Lightroom Workflow class ;)

Again, amazingly beautiful captures. Thanks so much for sharing your journey with us – you have a way of telling a story too! Great stuff Kent.

Karen

Absolutely amazing—your luck and your photos!!!!

wow – these are AMAZING! I will be showing my youngest son in the morning…he’s an avid outdoorsman, and will think these are the best!

Loved your adventure. Had a laugh at the “meese.” I’m envious though; I’d love to see one! And you’re right about the people who place light poles!

Fantastic photos! Were you using the 200-400 again this year?

I was, *wink* :)

Photo Tip ~ Top 5 Reasons to Get the Shot Now

Photo Tip ~ Top 5 Reasons to Get the Shot Now Photo Tip ~ Top 5 Reasons to Get the Shot Now This flower, I thought was a weed, has been trying to communicate with me. Throughout the spring and summer, it grows all straggly and weed-like at the base of one of our dogwood...

Some really good thoughts here.

I love this post, and I totally agree with capturing the moment before it passes by!

This is so true. So many times I’m there and I “see the shot” and don’t make the effort to capture it. I will from now on!!! thanks for the post! Now to go find that “weed”…

Maria Parraga

Hi Kent. Glad to meet you.
My question to you is why do you prefer Nikon
instead of Cannon?
Thanks for your Great Tutorials

Great post! All 5 reasons are excellent. This is why I made a purse/bag that works as a camera bag and purse so I have it with me. If not, I still have my point & shoot. I’ll leave home without the cell phone before I’ll leave without my camera. :D

I shoot with Nikon because I started with Fuji DSLRs. They use Nikon lenses and once I had a good collection of quality lenses I continued with the Nikon.

I always do this..I am so guilty of just letting it go and thinking “i’ll catch it next time.”

I must make myself stop to get the shot. most of the time I am driving and it’s late and i couldn’t be bothered to stop.. I know I know I’m lazy.

But I have actually missed moments in the past that will never be again and it’s pretty darn annoying.

*makes mental note* stop for the shot, stop for the shot, stop for the shot..

thanks for the post.

Cheers
Neal.

Wanted to say how much I enjoyed this… and all your posts!
Happy New Year and thanks for sharing.

I remember a small beautiful waterfall in Santa Barbara. I was lucky enough to say to myself, “shoot it now! I went back a few days later, water had dropped, shot was gone. That was 5 years ago and nature has yet to duplicate that magical moment.

But I am guilty of the opposite as well!

Thanks for the timely reminder.

Cheers

Pat

I still remember so clearly the first time I saw Jim’s work – probably more than any other photo assignment I’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing. I was sitting in a car dealership flipping through a National Geographic back in 1997 (-ish) where I stumbled upon his North Woods Journal.

The idea of being “allowed” only ONE frame a day for 90 days is still so intriguing to me. Really makes you think about pulling the trigger on a photograph, especially now when we can fire away in the digital world with little financial or material consequence… to slow down and compose for your sole photograph of a day… I still love it and strive to find such patience and discipline!

Friday Featured Photographer – Scott Haefner Scott Haefner is this week’s Featured Friday Photographer. I am interested in many genres of photography, but the theme that emerges in almost all of my more recent work is an attempt to create unique and non-cliché imagery. For instance, while I do shoot “typical” landscapes, I usually shoot...

I really love this Friday feature Kent – another great photographer for me to explore their work. The ‘Black Hole’ shot on Scott’s site is wonderful. Thanks for the references again.
