Amazing image.

Wow Kent, that lion is awesome, absolutely amazing! Makes my feeble attempts at Wordless Wednesday look like they were taken by a 2 yr old :)

What a gloriously regal photo! Love that face! Excellent!

All I can think of when I look at that photo is Aslan.

And then I think of this exchange from the book:
Susan speaking of Aslan: “Is he safe?”

Mrs. Beaver: “If there’s anyone who can appear before Aslan without their knees knocking, they’re either braver than most or else just silly.”

Lucy: “Then he isn’t safe?”

Mr Beaver: “’Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”

Such soulful knowing eyes. Beautiful tones in this and what a wonderful subject to be able to capture.

Amazing photo, Kent. You’ve captured the big cat’s beauty. All I can think of when I look at that face, though, is how deceptive is that! He “looks” so lovable, but he’d likely eat us alive.

Wow, I love that a simple image can inspire such thought. Thank you so much! :)

Erika,
OK, you can stop that kinda talk right now! :) Every single image is simply a step to the next better one. I’ve taken 100s of thousands of images in my life, most which stink. The whole fun of photography is trying to spend less time making stinky images. It’s always a work in progress and a personal struggle.
As a matter of fact, this image was the best from what I would consider an epic fail for me. This is a “large” cat rescue facility. A donor had the idea of doing a book of images to raise money. Of course, I agreed. However, the staff, or lack there of, had no time to work with me. And as it turns out, most of the cats thought I was a play toy. This lion kept lunging at me as I’d frame him up in the camera. I stepped away from the project before I had permanent memories installed. So, see, everything is relative. :)
And, as far as WW goes, there are no class levels, no better or worse. We are all explorers searching, capturing, and sharing our experiences, period (exclamation point)! There’s no judgement here, just creativity. Thank you for sharing your creations! :)

Thank you! This is about the only moment he looked like he was being nice. ;) (read reply to Erika)

He was. :) Read the other comment response. Thank you!

Amazing expression.

WOW!!!! Gorgeous photo of a magnificent creature!

Hair Dryer ~ Your Camera’s Best Friend?

Hair Dryer ~ Your Camera’s Best Friend?  Hair Dryer ~ Your Camera’s Best Friend? Who would think something as common (and personal-hygiene related) as a hair dryer could be a life saver for your camera? In a previous video, I’ve talked about the dryer’s ability to warm photography gear to help prevent condensation, which will...

Great blog post Kent! You are my hero for saving the day (and my camera) :)
Not to mention my vacation. Because of you I was able to get a few keepers of the Magic Kingdom Castle and fireworks and some beautiful Florida wildlife. This is definitely a nugget of information that will not be forgotten! Thanks again for all you do for us Kent… all of this great info you provide and wonderful opportunities with your eClasses and now photo tours. Can’t wait to see you in Vermont!

Sherri,
You’re so welcome! And I’m thrilled everything worked out for you. Take care! :)

So happy the camera came back to life!

I once didn’t have my underwater housing closed all the way (stupid, stupid mistake) and jumped in the ocean and flooded my camera. The boat captain rinsed the camera in fresh water, let it dry as best he could with the battery door open, and sealed it in a ziploc bag of uncooked rice. It took more than a week of sitting in the bag, but eventually the camera actually dried out and came back to life. I was SO impressed–I didn’t have a lot of hope for it.

I hope there isn’t a next time, but if there is, I’m definitely going to try the hair dryer trick to speed things along! Thanks for the tip!

Ashley,
Whoa, rice, that’s brilliant! Makes complete sense. Most places here put rice in salt shakers to prevent the salt from caking up. Great additional tip. Thank you!

Very visual! can’t miss that.

Love that! I live in a small town, way out in the country so that’s something we don’t see around here. Very charming. :)
