Infrared Photograph – Live Oak Cows

Introducing a new infrared black and white panoramic photograph – “Live Oak Cows”

Infrared Photograph Live Oak Cows

Most of my favorite infrared panoramic black and white images start this way:

  • apply brakes
  • car in reverse
  • check view I thought I saw
  • put hazards on
  • pull over and park
  • pop trunk
  • get the shot
  • This image is no exception. The only exception here was fence jumping. Come on, I was only capturing the moment. No animals were injured in the making of this image.

Seriously, this image was created with a series of hand held vertical shots from left to right. The shots were stitched together in Photoshop CS4. I used to do these manually for days at a time. Once stitched, I adjust contrast, dodge and burn, sharpen and that’s it. This image is huge, over 115mb. And can be printed nearly 7 feet wide. Online, the top image is very difficult to see in detail, so I included this detail section below.

When I first look at it I see the cows, then all the texture in the trees, back down at the fence and eventually far into the soft background. The fresh air that this portrays can only be imagined from here in Houston. What a great shot to have seen. Sounds like it was fun too. How many shots made this image?

    Kent Weakley Reply:

Hi Adam, Thanks for the compliment. It was about 10 vertical images stitched together. I’ll have it posted in my gallery in the next couple weeks. More IRs to come stay tuned – subscribe. Thx!

Fabulous photo. The tree is amazing. Dis you create all that texture?

    Kent Weakley Reply:

No, God made all the texture. I made sure there was good contrast, that’s all. Glad you like it. Thanks! :)

For a girl who comes from a long line of farmers… this is a beautiful story of home.
