Firework Photo Challenge

TIme to post your Fourth of July firework images. I can’t wait to see what you’ve shot.

If your firework images didn’t turn out the way you’d like, consider joining my Night Photography eClass. I can guarantee this eClass will change the way you photograph. Besides shooting fireworks, I’ll also teach you how to shoot the moon, the stars, blue hour, and light paint. This eClass has 14 main lessons and stays available to you online for 60 days. Plenty of time to work at your own pace. Come join us!:)

Night Photography, especially with fireworks, can be very exciting. I’m here to challenge you to take your firework photography to a new level. In this challenge, I’d love to see you try three different capture techniques:

  1. zoom in for some tight close-ups

  2. defocus for interesting blurs

  3. motion zoom while exposing

Once you have your awesome new firework shots, come back to this page and post them up below. Get out there, be safe, but be creative. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

When i took these photos i never expected to have them look ok, after i got home and seen what i really had, i decided that i liked them..they are a different sort of thing than what i am used to, and being my birthday on firecracker(queen victoria day) day, i thought it was fun to get out with my camera in hand.

For some reason the comment box isn’t showing up on my end on some of your other posts, so I came here to comment on all of them! First, that video of you creating the canvas print is so interesting. I had no idea what went into creating one of those and the fact that you can do it yourself is amazing. Second, thanks for the video about photographing fireworks. I got to that video via Darcy. Unfortunately we have a small fireworks show around here with no great spot to set up a tripod (which I don’t have) unless you have a boat to get to the island. I’m going to enjoy viewing everyone else’s shots, though.

After I reviewed settings and did practice shots and my husband rigged the windows so the tripod would be effective (because we have always seen the fireworks perfectly from the bedroom window), they moved the fireworks and did not launch them as high. But I got what I got and am proud of a couple of them.

Thanks for your tips.

I did everything right except my remote decided to not work. so all 300 or so looked terrible. Silly string in the sky. Oh well next year.

This was my first time being able to shoot fireworks after the Online Lessons …. I used the long shutter and got some fantastic shots. Thanks again Kent for your wonderful style of teaching.
